Does my student need all the supplies for the first school day of school?
Yes, we will be assigning lockers the first and second day of school, so please have your student bring their orchestra supplies and rental instruments with them on the first day of school.
Note - the only supply that needs to stay home is the metal folding stand. That is used for at home practicing.
Do I need to rent an instrument from the music store for my child?
Yes, we encourage families to rent an instrument for their child in order to practice on campus as well as at home. We will assign a school instrument for students who play the cello or bass during the first week of school.
Do I pay a fee for the use of a school instrument?
Yes. We must have a signed instrument contract and the $85 PISD fee must be paid. Once the fee is set up in RYCOR you will get an email from Ms. Velazquez saying it is ready to pay. If you do not see if there, please email Ms. Velazquez at [email protected]
I am not getting your emails, what should I do?
Two options:
- Email Ms. Velazquez at [email protected] to see if your email is correct in our orchestra database.
- Check the spam/junk folder to see if Ms. Velazquez emails are going there instead of your inbox.
Where should I go to get my child's orchestra supplies?
Please contact Ms. Velazquez at [email protected] for more information.
How much are orchestra fees going to be and how do I pay them?
There is no orchestra fee for orchestra class. One of our fees will be the T-Shirt fee because we wear this shirt to all of concerts. Another fee is the instrument user fee. Orchestra student who would like to audition for all region will have will have a cost to participate as well as the solo and ensemble festival.
I cannot afford the rental fees for my child's instrument, what should I do?
We believe that financial hardship is never a reason that a child cannot participate in an orchestra. If you feel as though you would need assistance, please email Ms. Velazquez as soon as possible. The school district does have a limited amount of instruments that can be used, but the availability varies.
